Four villages in Cheshinovo-Obleshevo live by candles and generators amid repeated power cuts

Residents of four villages in the Municipality of Cheshinovo-Obleshevo say they are forced to live by candles, oil lamps and backup generators because of persistent electrical distribution failures.

People from Cheshinovo, Ularci, Zhiganci and Sokolarci report that even a light breeze or a thin drizzle is enough to cut the power. The outages also interrupt their water supply: households rely on wells and hydrofor (well pump) systems that need electricity to operate.

Local damage and daily hardship

At a gathering to voice their frustration, residents said repeated outages have damaged household appliances and make safe food storage impossible. They also expressed concern for the health and safety of their children and other vulnerable household members.

According to the villagers, they have contacted EVN’s office in Kočani many times seeking a durable solution. The municipality’s mayor has also raised the issue with the company, but the problem remains unresolved.

Those gathered asked EVN to address the long-standing distribution problems so that families can have stable electricity and dependable access to water. No concrete timetable for repairs was announced.
