CCM urges public to call 112 only in urgent cases

The Center for Crisis Management (CCM) urged the public to reserve the 112 emergency line strictly for urgent situations, warning that many recent calls do not require an immediate response.

CCM representatives said that during the past period they recorded a large number of calls to 112 that lacked an emergency character. Examples include everyday problems, interpersonal misunderstandings, requests for information and administrative questions, and other situations where there is no immediate danger and no need for urgent action by response services.

Examples of non‑urgent calls

CCM listed several common types of non‑emergency contacts that nonetheless use operator time and phone capacity:

  • calls related to routine daily issues;
  • neighbour or interpersonal disputes;
  • requests for information;
  • administrative or bureaucratic questions.

CCM emphasised that every non‑urgent call occupies an operator and reduces the capacity of the lines, potentially delaying response to real emergencies.

The centre reiterated its appeal that 112 should be used only in cases of immediate danger when a rapid intervention by emergency services is necessary.
