Grandfather reports abuse: 10-year-old girl from Kocani says father maltreated her
Ministry of Internal Affairs confirms a complaint was filed at OVR Kočani and investigators are taking steps to clarify the case.
A grandfather in Kocani has filed a police report after his 10-year-old granddaughter told him she had been suffering prolonged physical and psychological abuse by her father, authorities said.
The report was submitted at the local police department and prompted an official opening of an inquiry into the allegations. Investigators have begun collecting information while the case remains under review.
"Yesterday at 18:00 at OVR Kočani, S.A. from Kocani reported that his 10-year-old granddaughter told him that for a longer period she had been psychologically and physically maltreated by her father and because of that she did not want to return to live with her mother and her father. Measures are being taken to clear up the case," said the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The girl told her grandfather she did not want to go back to living with her parents because of the mistreatment. Police confirmed the report and said steps are being taken to clarify the circumstances and secure the child's safety.
No further personal details about the family or potential charges have been released so far. Authorities typically follow procedures that include interviews and welfare checks in cases involving minors.
The Ministry said the investigation is ongoing and that additional measures will be taken as necessary while the police work to establish the facts of the case.
