Child seriously injured in Tetovo — father ran him over with SUV while reversing

A six-year-old child was seriously injured in Tetovo yesterday morning after, according to the police, his father ran over him while reversing an SUV. The child was initially brought to the Emergency Center in Tetovo, after which he was urgently transferred to the Mother Teresa Clinical Center in Skopje due to the severity of the injuries.

"On 23.08.2026 at 09:50, the Emergency Center in Tetovo reported that a minor child with serious injuries had been brought to them. Due to the child's critical condition, he was urgently transferred to the Mother Teresa Clinical Center in Skopje. After checks were carried out, it was determined that the accident occurred at around 08:30, when 42-year-old V.S. from Tetovo, driving a passenger vehicle Volkswagen Touareg without registration plates and moving backwards, ran over his six-year-old son with the rear wheel. An inspection was carried out by a team from the Tetovo Police Department. Measures are being taken to fully clarify the case and determine all circumstances," said the Tetovo Police Department.

Preliminary checks and actions

The police report that the notification from the Emergency Center was received at 09:50, while the incident itself occurred at around 08:30. The driver of the vehicle is confirmed as 42-year-old V.S. from Tetovo, and the vehicle involved was a passenger SUV Volkswagen Touareg without registration plates.

A team from the Tetovo Police Department carried out an inspection at the scene. The police said that evidence and testimonies are being collected to establish the full chronology and the circumstances that led to the accident.

So far no additional information has been released about the child's health beyond that he was transferred to Skopje and that his condition was serious on admission. The investigation continues and police officers are taking actions to fully clarify the case.
