DUI welcomes Mickoski's readiness for snap elections and calls for a stable, legitimate government
DUI said institutional procedures and the voters’ will should guide any decision on early parliamentary elections.
On 11 September 2026 the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) issued a statement welcoming Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski's declaration that VMRO‑DPMNE would be prepared to hold snap parliamentary elections if the Assembly requested them.
Citizens' interest and institutional route
DUI said the willingness to seek solutions through institutions and by appealing to the will of the people is a responsibility that merits approval. The party reiterated its long-standing demand for a government that is stable, functional and legitimately reflects the political will and legitimacy of the country’s largest communities.
In its notice the party stressed that institutional stability and fair representation are prerequisites for tackling the challenges facing the country. DUI described the political readiness to return the decision to citizens via early elections as a serious and institutional option.
The statement framed the potential election route as putting citizens’ interest, political legitimacy and the country’s long-term stability first. DUI presented the party position as focused on ensuring that any change preserves governance capability and inclusive representation.
The party did not outline a timetable; rather, it emphasised that any move toward snap elections should follow constitutional and parliamentary procedures and reflect the democratic choice of voters.
