DUI: No Albanian deputy prime minister has chaired a government session since June 2024

DUI said in a public statement on August 10, 2026, that none of the senior Albanian deputy prime ministers in the current Government have chaired a government session from June 2024 to August 10, 2026.

The party named Izet Medzhiti, Bekim Sali and Arben Fetai as the officials who, it says, have not presided over a single cabinet meeting since that time.

Party casts absence as indicator of political weight

According to DUI, the fact that those deputies have not chaired any session demonstrates what the party describes as the real political weight of Albanians within the current administration. DUI contrasted the current practice with previous governments, where deputy prime ministers were, the party says, a genuine institutional mechanism for shared governance.

In the statement DUI asked rhetorically about the substance of the office, writing: "The function may be called 'first deputy prime minister', it may have an office, a cabinet, an official car and protocol, but if for more than two years you have not been entrusted with chairing a single government session, then it is legitimate to ask: what is 'first' in that function?"

The party concluded its release with a blunt tally: "The number is merciless: 0 chaired sessions with 0 decision-making power."
