Two workers hospitalized after workplace injuries in Skopje

Two workers from the Skopje area were taken to the Clinical Center “Mother Teresa” after separate workplace incidents on September 7, 2026, police said. One of the men was admitted with serious injuries following an accident at a construction site in the municipality of Gjorche Petrov, while the other was hurt at a quarry.

According to the police report, the first injured person is O.E. (19) from the village of Sveta Petka, Skopje region. “On 07.09.2026 at 14:20 hours, the Skopje Police Department received a notification from the Emergency Center at the Clinical Center ‘Mother Teresa’ in Skopje that O.E. (19) from Sveta Petka, Skopje region, had been brought to them with serious bodily injuries. According to the report, he sustained the injuries while performing work tasks for a construction company at a building under construction in the Gjorche Petrov area of Skopje. A labor inspector was notified, and a team from the Skopje Police conducted an on-site inspection. Measures are being taken to clarify the incident,” the Ministry of Interior said.

The second worker was identified as I.B. (39) from the village of Batinci, Skopje region. “On 07.09.2026 at 14:15 hours, the Skopje Police Department received a report from the Clinical Center ‘Mother Teresa’ that I.B. (39) from Batinci, Skopje region, had been brought to them with injuries. According to the report, he sustained the injuries while performing work tasks in a quarry in the Skopje area,” the police said.

Investigations and workplace oversight

Police teams carried out inspections at the scenes and informed a labor inspector about the construction-site accident. Authorities said they were taking measures to determine the exact circumstances that led to the injuries.

No further details on the workers’ medical condition were released by the hospital. Investigators are continuing to collect evidence and statements from involved parties and witnesses.
