Financial Police file complaint against manager over embezzlement of public fees at vehicle inspections
Complaint to the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Tetovo accuses the manager of appropriating nearly 42 million denars between 2022 and 2025.

The Financial Police filed a criminal complaint with the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Tetovo against the manager of a company that operates vehicle technical inspection services, accusing him of a continuing criminal offence classified as "Embezzlement in office".
Allegations, timeframe and sums
According to the complaint, between 2022 and 2025 the suspect unlawfully appropriated nearly 42 million denars collected from citizens and businesses during vehicle registration procedures. Those funds were intended to be paid as public fees.
The complaint states that the payments were earmarked for several public bodies: the municipalities, the Ministry of Environment, the Red Cross, the Service for Assistance and Information, and the Republican Council for Road Traffic Safety.
Investigators also say that, in order to conceal the misappropriation, unlawful write-offs of public fees were carried out in 2022 and 2024 totalling more than 17 million denars. Through accounting entries, the company's recorded liabilities toward the institutions were reduced and a smaller outstanding obligation was shown.
The criminal complaint has been submitted to the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Tetovo and the case will proceed through the regular prosecutorial and judicial channels. No names beyond the description of the suspect as the company manager were released in the complaint summary.
Authorities did not immediately disclose whether they have secured assets or frozen accounts while the probe continues; the investigation is focused on tracing payments and verifying the accounting entries that allegedly hid the missing public levies.
