Fiscal Council to present analyses on pension system sustainability

The Fiscal Council will hold a presentation today focused on the financial and demographic sustainability of North Macedonia's pension system and possible reform paths.
Officials will unveil the latest analyses and projections for the system’s future, placing special emphasis on the operation and performance of the Second pension pillar.
Key topics and evidence
The event will circulate the council’s main findings and scenarios designed to test how different reforms could affect long-term viability. Among the issues on the agenda are the fiscal gap in the pension system, the effect of demographic trends on sustainability, and reform options that could secure stability.
Executive director of Finance Think, Blagica Petreski, will present the study "Sustainability of the pension system in North Macedonia" which includes simulations of possible reform solutions.
Speakers will also address recent returns and the prospective development of the Second pension pillar, offering projections intended to inform policymakers and stakeholders about risks and trade-offs facing the pension framework.
