German driver arrested near Gevgelija after radar recorded 203 km/h on A1
M.F. (46) was measured at 203 km/h on the A1 near Miletkovo where the limit is 120 km/h.
On 15 August 2026 at 08:00, police officers on the A1 "Friendship" highway near the village of Miletkovo, Gevgelija municipality, detained M.F. (46), a German national, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
During a traffic check using a radar device, officers from the Regional Police Directorate Strumica – Gevgelija Police Station recorded that M.F. was driving a BMW with German registration plates at a speed of 203 kilometres per hour in a stretch where a traffic sign sets the speed limit at 120 kilometres per hour.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs says the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office Gevgelija has been informed and that an appropriate charge will be filed against the driver.
Police warning to drivers
Authorities reiterated an appeal to all drivers to observe traffic rules and regulations, especially posted speed limits, and not to endanger their own life or the lives of other road users.
The case remains subject to normal prosecutorial procedures; further procedural measures were not specified in the ministry statement.
