Orce Gjorgjievski: New "Municipal Hygiene" vehicles will enter service soon

Skopje Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski announced that specialized vehicles delivered for the city’s Public Enterprise "Municipal Hygiene" have been formally handed over and should begin operating in the coming days after necessary legal procedures are completed.

In a social media post he also said the first shipment of a total 3,300 new waste containers is expected to arrive by the end of the week — a procurement he described as the largest to date for the city.

What the machines and containers mean for the city

Gjorgjievski framed the deliveries as part of a broader push to upgrade Skopje’s communal infrastructure and to improve everyday cleanliness. He said the new equipment will be deployed as soon as paperwork and legal formalities are closed.

“We are writing a new chapter in public hygiene! A clean city means health, dignity and a better life for everyone. Therefore, each of us has the responsibility to keep it. Let our work be an incentive for greater care, and may every clean street remain as such,” Gjorgjievski wrote on Facebook.

The mayor criticised previous city administrations for negligence and slow action, and said his team will end that situation through concrete investments and operations.

“Skopje lost too much for too long because of the irresponsibility and lack of diligence of predecessors. We are putting an end to that neglect with work and concrete deeds! With strong will, hard work and shared responsibility, Skopje will be a proud city again,” he added.
