Institute of Public Health urges vaccination after measles cases reported in neighbouring countries

The Institute of Public Health has urged residents to check their and their children’s vaccination records and to make up any missed doses of the MMR vaccine after measles cases were reported in parts of neighbouring countries.

What citizens should do

Health officials asked people to visit their nearest vaccination site to verify immunisation status and receive missing doses. They pointed to vaccination as the most effective protection against measles and to prevent further spread.

"Considering the still insufficient coverage with the MMR vaccine in our country, as well as the current epidemiological situation and the registered cases of measles in parts of neighbouring countries, increased caution and timely implementation of preventive measures are needed," the Institute said.

The Institute emphasised that it is particularly important for children to receive both recommended MMR doses. Adults who missed vaccination in childhood were also asked to check their records and complete any outstanding doses.

Officials advised parents and guardians to contact local health centres or vaccination points for appointments and information on vaccine availability. They reiterated that timely vaccination protects individuals and helps reduce the risk of outbreaks.
