Industrial output in June rises 6.5% as manufacturing leads growth
Manufacturing increased by 7.9% while mining and energy sectors declined.
Industrial production in North Macedonia rose by 6.5 percent in June 2026 compared with the same month a year earlier, according to the latest official figures. The expansion was driven mainly by strong performance in the manufacturing sector, while mining and energy-related activity declined.
Manufacturing keeps the momentum
The manufacturing sector posted a 7.9 percent increase year-on-year in June. In contrast, mining and quarrying fell by 3.8 percent, and production in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply decreased by 8.2 percent compared with June of the previous year.
Within manufacturing, the largest contributions to growth came from production of beverages; tobacco products; chemicals and chemical products; other non-metallic mineral products; metals and fabricated metal products; electrical equipment; motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers; and furniture manufacture.
Looking at main industrial groupings, intermediate goods excluding energy recorded the biggest rise at 11.7 percent. Capital goods and durable consumer goods each grew by 8.6 percent, while non-durable consumer goods rose by 2.0 percent. Energy was the only group to decline, with output down 11.1 percent.
The statistics identify the single largest contributions to overall industrial growth in June as production of other non-metallic mineral products, up 35.6 percent; production of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, up 15.9 percent; and production of electrical equipment, up 3.8 percent.
On a cumulative basis, the industrial production index for January–June 2026 stood at 100.9, meaning industrial output was 0.9 percent higher than in the first half of 2025. Despite weaknesses in energy and mining, domestic industry maintained a positive trend in June thanks to the manufacturing sector, which remains the main engine of industrial growth. Industrial production also registered a 4.1 percent increase in July.
