32-year-old man from Skopje missing near Ohrid campsite; clothes and phone found on shore

Police, diving teams and mountain rescue units are searching for a 32-year-old man from Skopje who disappeared in the vicinity of an Ohrid campsite, the police said.

The man, identified by the Ministry of Interior by his initials as B.S., was reported missing by his father. According to the police statement, the father, identified as Z.S., first learned that his son had left the camp and later found part of his son's clothes, his mobile phone and a rubber boat on the beach.

"On 14.09.2026 at 18:10, in SVR Ohrid, Z.S. from Skopje reported that his son B.S.(32) from Skopje, with whom he was staying in an autocamp in Ohrid, had left the camp after which, on the beach, he found part of his clothes, a mobile phone and a rubber boat. Immediately after receiving the report, police teams from the lake police and from SVR Ohrid, together with members of the mountain rescue service and a team from the diving club 'Ohrid', are conducting searches in the lake waters and on land to find him and clear up the incident," the police statement reads.

Search operation and status

Search teams from the lake police and the Ohrid regional police (SVR Ohrid) joined forces with members of the mountain rescue service and divers from the local diving club to comb both the shoreline and the lake. Their work, the statement says, is aimed at locating the missing man and clarifying the circumstances of his disappearance.

Family members say they have been unable to locate him since September 1. Authorities have not released further personal details and the search remains ongoing.
