Vesna Janevska rejects claims that dormitory ranking scores were hidden

Education Minister Vesna Janevska rejected accusations from the opposition party Levica that the Ministry of Education and Science hid the points and ranking lists used to allocate places in university dormitories.

Asked to respond to the claims, Janevska said: "It is regrettable that disinformation is spreading in public. I absolutely assert, the ranking lists have been published for those accepted, but a list of those not accepted has also been published with an explanation why they were not accepted."

Opposition demands full publication of scores

Janevska told reporters that some applicants — for example students in their seventh or eighth year of study and those whose parents have very high incomes — were rejected because they did not meet the admission conditions for dormitory places. She added that the admission criteria are publicly available in the call for applications.

"In any case, the criteria are published publicly; they are in the announcement," Janevska said.

Levica responded by insisting that, beyond lists of admitted students, the ministry must also publish the actual points earned by applicants and the basis for ranking. The party argued that without the points being published students cannot verify how the ranking was performed or whether criteria were applied equally. Levica also accused Janevska of making statements that, according to the party, do not match the ministry's official documents.
