Vesna Janevska: Dormitory ranking lists published, no hiding of points

Education Minister Vesna Janevska rejected accusations that the Ministry concealed the points and results for student dormitory admissions, saying the full ranking lists for accepted and rejected applicants have been published with explanations.

Answering a question from reporters about complaints by the Levica party, Janevska insisted the documentation is public and available to candidates.

"It is regrettable that misinformation is being spread in public. The ranking lists have been published, both for admitted and for non-admitted, with an explanation why they were not admitted," Janevska said.

Admission criteria and excluded groups

Janevska pointed out that among those rejected are students who are in their seventh or eighth year of study, as well as applicants whose parents have high incomes. She said the eligibility criteria were published in the public call and applicants were informed of the admission conditions.

The minister also addressed criticism about a shortage of educational assistants in schools, saying the current number is the largest to date: about 1,348 assistants in primary education and 166 in secondary education. Additional requests for hiring assistants are still under review and the selection procedure is ongoing.

Janevska added that pupils also receive support from inclusive teams and that institutions are working to ensure necessary assistant support.

She informed that classes at the Kiro Gligorov primary school are expected to resume in person soon. Additional classrooms are due to be finished over the weekend, and all pupils are expected to return to in-person lessons no later than Tuesday; Janevska said that within a week all pupils from Kiro Gligorov will be studying in person.
