North Macedonia U18 women edged out by Azerbaijan in 17–20 place match
North Macedonia lost 75:73 to Azerbaijan in Tulcea and recorded their fifth defeat at the U18 European Championship B Division.
The North Macedonia U18 women's team suffered a narrow defeat to Azerbaijan, 75:73, in the 17–20 place playoff at the U18 European Championship B Division in Tulcea on 07.08.2026. The loss was the team's fifth on the tournament.
North Macedonia opened strongly and dominated the first quarter, taking a 24:19 lead, but Azerbaijan recovered to win both the second and third quarters and shift momentum.
Late rally fell short
The hosts entered the final period trailing by two points. The young Macedonian side had opportunities to overturn the result in the closing minutes, but were unable to convert and ultimately dropped the game by two.
Top scorers for North Macedonia were Iva Koleva with 18 points, while Jana Pishlevska and Tea Trajkovska each scored 17.
With this result the team remains in the lower placement bracket and will continue to play remaining classification games at the Tulcea event.
