Commission for Protection of Competition inspects over 30 purchase centers
The Commission for Protection of Competition carried out on-site inspections and collected documentation to verify price formation and procurement conditions.
The decision-making commission on infringements at the Commission for Protection of Competition carried out control activities covering more than 30 purchase centers in the municipalities of Gevgelija, Strumica, Krivogaštani and Resen, the body announced.
Inspectors focused their checks on facilities that buy agricultural and horticultural products, with special attention to purchases of peppers and apples. The operation involved on-site inspections and the collection of data and documentation from the centers.
What inspectors sought
According to the Commission, the gathered information aimed to clarify how purchase prices are formed, the conditions under which procurement is carried out, and the procedures purchase centers use to set and change their prices.
During the initial processing of the collected data and documents, the Commission found certain indications pointing to possible breaches of rules under its jurisdiction.
The Commission said it will continue with a detailed analysis and verification of the material. After the facts are established and in line with its legal powers, it will take the appropriate measures against any identified violators.
