Criminal Council accepts €1,140,781 property guarantee from Perparim Bajrami
The Criminal Council accepted a €1,140,781 real-estate guarantee offered on October 14 in the State Lottery case involving charges of abuse of office.
The Criminal Council at the Criminal Court in Skopje accepted a guarantee to replace the detention measure in the "State Lottery" case offered by Perparim Bajrami, the first defendant in the indictment.
Bajrami submitted the proposal on 14 October, offering a guarantee in the amount of €1,140,781 in real estate as a condition for lifting pre-trial detention.
Key facts of the procedure
The Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Skopje filed an indictment against Bajrami on 13 August for the criminal offense of abuse of official position and authority, a crime punishable by up to five years in prison.
According to the prosecution's request, detention was ordered after Bajrami was located and deprived of liberty, since he had previously been unavailable to law enforcement authorities.
Bajrami reported himself to begin serving the detention measure at the Correctional Institution (Prison) Skopje on 9 September; under the Criminal Procedure Code the detention in this case cannot exceed 60 days, so the statutory period for his detention expires on 8 November.
