Levica: One year without payments to self-employed persons with disabilities

Levica says people with disabilities who work independently have not received promised state reimbursements for a year and demands immediate action from the VMRO-DPMNE government.

According to the party, the last reimbursement covered July 2025 but was only paid in January 2026; since that transfer there have been no further payments although beneficiaries continue working and regularly paying their obligations.

How the support is supposed to work

The scheme allows a person with a disability who is self-employed to pay pension and health insurance contributions directly, which are then refunded through the Special Fund for Employment of Persons with Disabilities. Levica says the pause in reimbursements forces the cost back onto the individual who already paid the contributions.

The party accuses the government of continuing in 2026 to cover obligations from the previous year instead of ensuring timely funding for current payments, which they say reflects ad hoc budgeting and shifts financial risk onto programme users.

Levica calls for an urgent settlement of arrears, full transparency about the debt from 2025 and the government's obligations for 2026, and stable guaranteed financing of the programme so it can fulfil its aim of enabling economic independence for people with disabilities.
