Levica – Kavadarci: Around 5.8 million denars spent on Tikveshki festival while grape growers lack secure placement
The party says payments for four foreign entertainers total around 5.8 million denars while producers lack guaranteed buyers and decent purchase prices.
Levica – Kavadarci accused local and national organisers of prioritising entertainment spending at the annual Tikveshki grape harvest festival while leaving grape growers uncertain about where and at what price they will sell their crop.
The party said that payments connected solely to four foreign performers, including personal income tax, amount to around 5.8 million denars. Levica warned this happened at a moment when many producers lack a guaranteed market and “a dignified purchase price”.
Levica's proposals
To address what it called a structural problem in the wine and grape sector, Levica demanded the formation of a State purchase centre and a Distillery. The party also called for the abolition of the 8 percent reduction applied when grapes are paid for in cash.
Levica – Kavadarci argued that public funds should be used to secure producers’ incomes and long-term placement for grape harvests rather than large musical programmes.
The party said it will press its proposals in upcoming local and national discussions and urged authorities to present concrete plans to stabilise the market for grape growers.
