Levica: Government rebalance practically eliminates gasification funding
The party says the rebalance reduces planned 1,897,020,000 denars for gasification to just 12,020,000 denars and demands answers from the Government and VMRO‑DPMNE.

Levica has accused the Government of North Macedonia of effectively abandoning the country’s gasification programme after a proposed budget rebalance slashed the money allocated to the Ministry of Energy, Mining and Natural Resources.
Party says cuts remove almost two billion denars
In its statement the party says the ministry’s line was reduced by nearly two billion denars and that the largest single cut targets gasification. Levica cites the figures in the proposed rebalance to argue the change leaves planned infrastructure works unfunded and raises questions about energy supply security.
“Of the planned 1,897,020,000 denars for gasification only 12,020,000 denars remain. The reduction amounts to 99.4%, which practically reduces this budget subprogramme to a minimum. For 2027 and 2028, 64.2 million denars are projected annually. Those amounts are far below the earlier plan for 2026, so it is reasonable to ask with what pace the planned activities will continue.
From the Government and the Ministry it is expected to show how this hypocritical decision fits into their energy plans. If gasification remains a priority, that must be seen in the secured funds, deadlines and implementation. There is no construction without money, no infrastructure without investment, and there is no serious energy policy with budget items that are erased by 99.4%,”
Levica singled out Energy Minister Sanja Bozhinovska in its demand for answers and urged both the Government and VMRO-DPMNE to explain why the funds were reduced and how the planned gasification investments will be delivered under the new numbers.
The party warned that without explicit budget allocations and a clear timeline, planned works on pipelines and related infrastructure could be delayed or cancelled, undermining efforts to diversify energy sources and strengthen supply security.
Levica requested a formal response from the Government and VMRO-DPMNE setting out the reasons behind the cut and a schedule for the execution of the remaining plan.
