Lidl Germany recalls two Nautica trout fillets over Listeria concerns

Lidl in Germany has issued an urgent recall of two frozen trout fillet products from the Nautica brand after the supplier detected a possible contamination with the bacterium Listeria.

The recall, announced by the Danish supplier Danforel A/S, applies to 125 gram packages with a use-by date of 20 October 2026: Nautica Regenbogen Forellenfilets Natur (fillets of rainbow trout – plain) and Nautica Regenbogen Forellenfilets Pfeffer (fillets of rainbow trout – with black pepper).

Where the products were sold and consumer guidance

The affected items were sold in Lidl stores across six German federal states: Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. Customers are asked not to consume these products under any circumstances.

Shoppers who purchased the listed items may return them to any Lidl outlet and will receive a full refund even if they cannot present a receipt. The supplier emphasized that other products from Danforel A/S and the Nautica brand are not covered by this warning.

Listeria infections can produce severe gastrointestinal illness with symptoms such as diarrhea and high fever and often resemble influenza. Symptoms typically appear within 14 days of consumption. Pregnant people, newborns, older adults and individuals with weakened immune systems face higher risk of serious complications, including sepsis or meningitis. Anyone who consumed the recalled products and develops symptoms is advised to seek medical attention promptly.
