12 drivers detained for reckless driving, police say
Police detained 12 motorists nationwide for reckless driving; the group included a minor and drivers found under the influence and those driving despite bans.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported that police officers across the country detained 12 drivers during the last 24 hours on suspicion of the criminal offence of reckless driving.
Details of the detentions
According to the MIA, seven of the detained drivers were operating vehicles without a valid driving licence; among those seven cases one detained person was a minor and one was under the influence of alcohol.
In addition, three drivers were recorded driving under the influence of alcohol, while two drivers were stopped while driving despite having an active ban on driving.
The ministry said that, after the cases are fully documented, appropriate criminal charges will be filed against the suspects.
"We appeal to all participants in traffic to consistently comply with traffic rules and regulations, not to drive a vehicle without a valid driving licence, under the influence of alcohol, or while subject to an imposed driving ban. Through responsible behaviour we all jointly contribute to greater safety on the roads," the MIA said.
Police statements emphasised continued enforcement activity and urged citizens to respect traffic laws to reduce road risks.
