North Macedonia's volleyball team receives strong support from fans in Sofia
After three opening losses at the European Championship the team rested on 14.09.2026 and will meet Portugal next, with federation officials in Sofia.
North Macedonia's men's volleyball team entered the European Championship having lost all three of their opening matches, a run that leaves them with a steep challenge in the tournament.
Support and schedule in Sofia
The squad had a rest day on 14.09.2026 and is scheduled to face Portugal the following day. The Portuguese side arrives under physical strain after a demanding game with Israel and with another match against Ukraine on the same day as our team’s rest day, a factor the Macedonian camp hopes will play to their advantage.
From Sofia come striking images of encouragement: on the stands North Macedonia’s players received loud and heartfelt backing from children and family members. The delegation of the Volleyball Federation of North Macedonia is also present in the Bulgarian capital to accompany the team.
The federation leadership’s presence and the visible support from the stands are intended to boost morale as the team looks for better results in the next fixtures of the European Championship.
