MEPSO seeks 97.68% increase in transmission tariff for 2027
MEPSO asks to raise average transmission tariff to 0.5966 denars/kWh and RKE will assess which costs are justified.

MEPSO, the national transmission system operator, has filed a request that would nearly double the average electricity transmission tariff for 2027, according to documents published by the Regulatory Commission for Energy, Water Services and Waste Management.
In an application submitted on 16 October the operator asks to set basic revenue for 2027 at 2.93 billion denars, a regulated maximum transmission revenue of 3.38 billion denars, and an output volume from MEPSO's transmission network of 5,677,151,958 kilowatt‑hours.
MEPSO proposes an average transmission tariff of 0.5966 denars per kilowatt‑hour — a 97.68 percent increase compared with the current average tariff.
Regulator to examine company costs
The operator also requests a regulated revenue for 2027 of 3.39 billion denars, up from 1.88 billion denars approved for the current year — an increase of about 80 percent. At the same time MEPSO projects a fall in transmitted volumes from 6.24 to 5.68 billion kilowatt‑hours. The Regulatory Commission (RKE) must now analyse MEPSO's cost items and determine which parts of the requested revenue are justified.
A separate round of price revision requests targets district heating in Skopje. ESM Production, ESM Supply, ESM Distribution and the company Energy Ekolong (which previously operated under the name "Skopje North") have all submitted requests to revise the current heating price.
RKE has said the companies point to the high price of natural gas as the principal reason for their requests. ESM has informed the regulator that, by their calculations, gas in October is about 60 percent more expensive than the price used when the last decision on district heating was taken in July.
