Mickoski: US and Trump administration view North Macedonia as close friend
Mickoski highlights U.S. support across NATO and economic investment, and a meeting with DFC official Caroline Vik.
Hristijan Mickoski told reporters in an interview that he believes the United States and the Trump administration view North Macedonia as a close friend, not only within the Western Balkans but also in a wider European context.
“Their support for us remains unchanged not only when it comes to the NATO alliance, but also in the area of the economy and the potential investments that the United States has in North Macedonia,” says Hristijan Mickoski.
Meeting with the DFC and investment prospects
Mickoski singled out the engagement with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC). He said he met with Caroline Vik, who is responsible for development and investment work across the globe.
According to Mickoski, the DFC’s financial portfolio is around 200 billion dollars — a scale that, he argued, could open room for new projects and direct investment in the country’s economy.
He stressed that U.S. backing extends beyond security ties and could translate into tangible economic cooperation if the conditions and projects match investors’ criteria. Mickoski framed the DFC relationship as a concrete channel through which Washington can support growth in North Macedonia.
