Mickoski: Government preparing methodology to prevent electricity price rises
Mickoski says supply is stable, production capacities are ready and measures on excise keep fuel cheaper compared with neighbouring countries.

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said the Government is drafting a methodology intended to prevent an increase in electricity prices for consumers, and — where possible — to lower them, during a visit to Shtip.
Answering journalists’ questions about the energy situation ahead of the upcoming heating season, Mickoski described the supply picture as stable and said households and businesses will have uninterrupted supply.
Production capacities ready before heating season
He added that all production capacities are prepared for the start of the heating season, whenever it begins depending on weather conditions. The prime minister stressed the Government will take measures to keep prices unchanged or to reduce them despite global challenges and the energy crisis caused by the conflict in the Arabian Gulf.
On fuel prices, Mickoski repeated that petrol and diesel remain up to 0.5 euro per litre cheaper compared with Greece, Albania and Serbia, which he attributed mainly to the reduced excise level.
"Of course, at the moment we are applying measures, and that is the reduced level of the excise, but depending on the intensity of the crisis, we will size the measures accordingly," he said.
Mickoski also pointed to wider economic indicators: the budget is stable, inflation stands between 2.3 and 2.6 percent, GDP grew by 4.3 percent in the second quarter, exports are rising, and some 17,000 new jobs have been created in the recent period.
