SNSD president Milorad Dodik addressed the public after the first preliminary results from general elections held today across Bosnia and Herzegovina and declared his party victorious at every level.

He said SNSD would win two-thirds in the Republika Srpska assembly

Speaking shortly after the initial counts were published, Dodik said the outcome was unexpectedly strong and predicted an overwhelming majority in the Republika Srpska parliament. He told reporters he would not publish detailed figures because they were already visible on television screens.

"An unexpectedly high result — for the party itself, together with coalition partners, we will have two-thirds in the Parliament of Republika Srpska. This result is similar to the one from 20 years ago. And now I ask myself what we will do in the next 20, because every 20 years we record the best possible victory. I will not announce the numbers; you have them on your screens as do we," Dodik said.

Dodik credited part of SNSD's success to changes in the political atmosphere in the United States and thanked international allies by name.

"I want to thank all our friends. I will also say this: if it were not for Donald Trump's magnificent victory and if he had not removed that hated Biden structure, I believe we would be political corpses today, but thanks to the new atmosphere we are now political winners and we intend to verify that — also by thanking President Putin, who received us and wished us success in the elections, which was important for us," he said.

Preliminary tallies also show the SNSD candidate Željka Cvijanović leading the contest for the Bosnian Presidency seat with 55.34 percent of the vote, ahead of Marinko Božović (SDS) on 26.59 percent and Nebojša Vukanović on 18.5 percent.
