Education Minister Vesna Janevska: Students' request to raise subsidized meal to 200 denars will be reviewed
Decision will depend on budget capacity; ministry says student housing and learning conditions are priorities.
Students have asked the Ministry of Education to increase the subsidized student meal to 200 denars, a request that Minister Vesna Janevska said will be examined.
Janevska told reporters the decision must fit within the state's budgetary limits and that any change will be subject to available funds. The subsidized student meal currently costs 140 denars.
Budget constraints will determine outcome
“I hope we will find a solution within our budget possibilities. As you can see, there are priorities — their housing and the conditions for learning are a priority,” said Minister Vesna Janevska.
The minister emphasised that student housing and overall living standards for students are priorities for the Government, and that the ministry will weigh the request against other fiscal commitments.
No timetable for a decision was announced; Janevska indicated the ministry will review the proposal and make a determination when budgetary analysis is complete.
