Energy Minister Sanja Bozinovska demands apology from SDSM and warns of lawsuit

Energy Minister Sanja Bozinovska has publicly demanded an apology from the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) and warned that she will pursue legal action if the party does not retract allegations within a day.

At issue are claims made by SDSM at a press conference on 20 September that A METER&CONTROL — the company awarded a contract to supply electricity meters to EVN worth more than 13 million euros — is partly owned by Rudnap Group, and that Bozinovska served as the company’s director for Central and Eastern Europe from 2011 to 2014.

Minister's rebuttal

In a written denial the minister addressed those assertions directly. She said: "The facts are clear: for more than 12 years I have had no business or private relationship with Rudnap. I have no connection to the procurement in question, nor to the procedure that EVN, as a private company, conducts independently and for its own needs."

Bozinovska further accused SDSM of deliberate misinformation: "SDSM consciously spreads falsehoods and fabricated constructions about my alleged involvement in business deals, without offering a single fact to support such claims. This is not an argument but an attempt at political discreditation."

She demanded that SDSM publicly withdraw the statements and apologize within 24 hours and warned of consequences if they fail to comply: "Therefore, instead of political constructions and invented 'networks', I demand that SDSM publicly withdraw the false claims and apologize to me within 24 hours. If not, concrete legal steps will follow. I will use all available legal mechanisms to protect my honour, reputation and professional integrity, including court proceedings and appropriate reports to the competent institutions." The statement was signed by Sanja Bozinovska.

The minister’s rebuttal reiterates that the EVN procurement is handled by the private company itself and underscores her denial of any current link to the companies named by the opposition. The original allegations and the minister’s response were published on 22 September 2026.
