Ministry of Interior: 10,411 traffic offenses recorded from May to August 2026
Most violations were recorded among moped and motorcycle riders; intensified checks continue with 423 vehicles seized.
The Ministry of Interior reported that a total of 10,411 traffic offenses were identified during intensified checks carried out between May and August 2026, targeting riders of electric scooters, bicycles, mopeds, motorcycles, tricycles and quadricycles.
Most violations among mopeds and motorcycles
According to the ministry's figures, 8,806 of the recorded offenses involved drivers of mopeds, motorcycles and tricycles. Riders of electric scooters accounted for 1,571 offenses, while 34 offenses involved bicycles.
The single most frequent infraction was not wearing a protective helmet, for which 7,303 sanctions were imposed. Authorities also registered 718 cases of driving on inappropriate surfaces, 401 for operating unregistered vehicles or vehicles without an insurance policy, and 322 for failing to use reflective vests.
Enforcement teams found 81 cases of drivers younger than 18 years and 45 cases of driving under the influence of alcohol; additionally, 1,541 offenses were recorded under other categories.
Beyond administrative offenses, police discovered 619 criminal offenses: 604 for driving without a licence, 14 for driving under the influence and one for driving in a prohibited direction. As part of the measures, a total of 423 vehicles were confiscated—20 electric scooters and 403 mopeds, motorcycles and tricycles.
The Ministry of Interior said intensified traffic checks will continue, with special focus on violations that directly endanger road users. Officials urged drivers to obey traffic rules, use protective equipment, avoid driving under the influence of alcohol and not to participate in traffic without meeting legal requirements.
