One suspect for terrorism, two for illegal weapons possession — prosecutors give initial details
After yesterday's raids in about ten locations five people were initially detained; automatic weapons, ISIS flags and crypto-mining equipment were seized.
The Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption said one person has been suspected of terrorism while two others face allegations of illegal possession of weapons after a police operation yesterday.
Prosecutors identified the first suspect as a resident of the Chento neighbourhood. Authorities carried out searches in around ten locations and initially detained five people during the raids.
Officers seized multiple pieces of automatic weaponry, pistols, knives, ISIS flags and computers used for cryptocurrency mining. The prosecution said investigators are also looking into whether members of the group were involved in usury, unlawful trade and other violent offenses.
The order to open the investigative procedure, the Office explained, is based on evidence gathered during a prior pre-investigation, on documentation and material from a case that is currently at trial, and on evidence obtained through international legal assistance. The Office has requested 30-day detention for the suspects.
Security services participated
The operation was led by the Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption and included the Agency for National Security (ANB) and the police. Prosecutors have released these initial details while the inquiries continue.
