Toll income tops 1.919.775.277 denars in first six months
Public Enterprise for State Roads reports record January–June toll receipts of 1.919.775.277 denars, with electronic payments rising after wider MTag availability.

Toll collections in North Macedonia reached a record 1.919.775.277 denars (over 31 million euros) from January through June, the Public Enterprise for State Roads reported, an increase of 21.891.532 denars compared with the same period in 2025. The busiest toll plaza by traffic volume was Tetovo, followed in order by Petrovec, Romanovce, Glumovo, Miladinovci, Zhelino, Gostivar, Stobi, Kadrifakovo, Preod, Sopot, Demir Kapija, Otovica and Gevgelija.
Revenue concentration and electronic payments
When ranked by income and ticket price, Romanovce generated the largest receipts, followed by Miladinovci, Petrovec, Glumovo, Zhelino, Tetovo, Stobi, Preod, Gostivar, Sopot, Gevgelija, Kadrifakovo, Otovica and Demir Kapija.
“The Public Enterprise for State Roads, whenever there is an increased traffic volume at toll plazas—especially during the summer season—the Toll Collection Department prepares an action plan (schedule) where all available lanes at every toll plaza on both corridors are put into operation. At the same time equal priority is given to electronic toll collection (ETC): MTag lanes, where at least one lane is always active, allow vehicles to pass without stopping, and MCard electronic payment lanes enable contactless passage without interaction with staff,” the Public Enterprise for State Roads said.
Electronic payments account for 36 percent of total traffic at the 11 toll plazas where ETC has been introduced. The enterprise also noted that sales and top-ups of electronic devices have risen since MTag devices became available through mobile operators’ sales networks, boosting ETC’s share by 6 percentage points of total toll receipts.
Since May of this year MTags have been offered through the retail networks of Makedonski Telekom and A1 Macedonia; previously they were sold only by the Public Enterprise for State Roads or at the Petrovec toll station. The enterprise also said it is studying the possible introduction of a closed, distance-based tolling model—similar to Serbia’s system—on Corridor 8, and that preparatory work on a feasibility study is already underway.
For the full previous year (up to December 23) toll income reached 4.158.914.362 denars (67.624.624 euros).
