About 100 companies from North Macedonia across different industries plan to exhibit at Expo 2027 in Belgrade, scheduled to run from May 15 to August 15, 2027.

Organizers say the event will be a major opportunity for the region to showcase competitive advantages and to build new business ties: diplomatic and business delegations from more than 140 countries are expected to attend.

“First of all, the EXPO is largely a business olympiad. We expect that in the next 10 years the EXPO will have an impact on our economy up to 9 billion and that in the future it will open nearly 360,000 jobs in Serbia. On the other hand, when we talk about that impact on the economy of 9 billion, we expect that part of that money will spill over into the region” — Danilo Jerinić, general director of Expo 2027 Belgrade.

Expectations for companies and regional spillover

Officials underline that beyond national exhibition space, the fair functions as a platform for matchmaking between producers, exporters and international buyers. For Macedonian firms, participation is being pitched as a chance to enter new markets and meet potential partners from across the globe.

Aleksandar Velinovski, commissioner of the Macedonian pavilion, also appears in organizers’ promotional material and video statements outlining the pavilion’s plans and the profile of participating companies.

Organizers and Macedonian representatives say they expect the Expo’s economic effects in Serbia to have regional spillover, offering new export and investment opportunities for businesses from neighbouring countries.
