Opposition Accuses Hristijan Mickoski of Arrogance and Luxury
Opponents say the prime minister’s lifestyle and alleged plane purchase deepen divisions and signal policy priorities that sideline pay raises and aid.
Opposition parties in North Macedonia have renewed public criticism of Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, accusing him of an arrogant attitude toward citizens and of living an excessive lifestyle.
The complaints single out expensive personal items such as watches and suits and also refer to alleged plans to procure a government airplane. Critics say those choices deepen social divisions and undercut support for measures aimed at helping households facing high living costs.
Allegations of political and economic favoritism
Opposition spokespeople additionally claim Mickoski is linked with media and political networks elsewhere in the region, and that his administration is prioritizing certain economic interests over policies to raise wages and expand direct assistance to citizens.
They argue the government has drifted away from European reform commitments and risked isolating the country internationally. According to the opposition, such a direction hurts public trust and narrows political debate.
Opposition statements also stressed that citizens should not be separated into an "elite" and "dregs," saying the population collectively owns the state and should not be treated as a divided electorate.
