Suspect from Cherkezi for insults and threats against Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski

A resident of the Kumanovo village of Cherkezi is suspected of insulting and threatening Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski through messages on social media.

The Basic Public Prosecutor's Office (PPO) Kumanovo announced that a public prosecutor has opened proceedings against the 39-year-old on reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of endangering security under Article 144 paragraph 5 of the Criminal Code.

Procedure and legal basis

As stated in the announcement, the case concerns messages sent via social platforms in which the suspect, as alleged, insulted and threatened the prime minister. For that reason, the prosecutor's office initiated formal proceedings.

No additional details were published about the content of the messages or the suspect's motives. In such cases, prosecutors usually collect digital traces from accounts and devices that will serve as evidence.

The case is in the pre-investigation phase; if charges are brought, the procedure will continue according to the provisions of the Criminal Code and the rules of criminal procedure.
