Ban on Bulgarian vaccines stays; Japanese tuberculosis vaccine ordered

The ban on using Bulgarian-made vaccines remains in place, while authorities have ordered a Japanese tuberculosis vaccine, the Ministry of Health announced.

Vaccination schedule and supplies

Health officials urged citizens to be patient as routine immunizations continue under adjusted arrangements. "Newborns are safe because the vaccine can be given later," said Sasho Klekovski, Minister of Health.

Procurement of seasonal influenza vaccines has been delayed. The ministry said the shortage is not limited to North Macedonia but affects other countries as well.

So far, 30,000 influenza vaccine doses have already been purchased and an additional 30,000 doses are expected to arrive by mid next month.

Authorities reported that no cases of seasonal influenza have been recorded to date and that they are monitoring the supply situation closely.
