Permonte plans 120 MW solar plant near Cetinje

Montenegrin company Permonte has announced plans to build a large-scale solar power plant with a capacity of 120 megawatts in the municipality of Cetinje.

The project is planned in the area of the village of Chevo and would occupy roughly 123 hectares of land. The company states the installation will be sited within that footprint pending approvals.

Technical design and equipment

According to the project documentation, the proposal envisions solar panels rated at 740 watts each and inverters with a rated power of 500 kilowatts. The scheme aims to connect the generated electricity to the national grid once permits are granted.

Permonte has already asked the Agency for Environmental Protection of Montenegro to determine whether a full environmental impact assessment (EIA) is required for the development. Interested parties may submit comments on the project until October 12, 2026.

Permonte was founded in Podgorica in 2008 and operates in engineering and technical consulting. The company previously prepared a techno‑economic study for installing photovoltaic panels along the planned Bar–Boljare highway, which is intended to connect Montenegro’s southern region with the border to Serbia.

Authorities in Cetinje and national regulators will now review the documentation and the agency’s decision on any required EIA will shape the next administrative steps for the 120 MW project.
