Branko Radovanović, veteran journalist, has died

Branko Radovanović, a long-serving Macedonian journalist, died in Skopje on October 30, 2026. He was 79, the family announced.

Radovanović studied at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade and began writing while still a high-school student for the paper Mlad Borec. As a student he contributed to several regional titles and later worked as an external collaborator for Večernje novosti and Nova Makedonija.

Career in print and television

Between 1977 and 1980 he was on the staff of the newspaper of MZT, and he later served as an editor at Stopanski vesnik. From 1979 he joined the foreign-political desk of Macedonian Television (MTV), and from 1985 he worked there as a commentator and editor.

Over decades of reporting, Radovanović covered major international events. His assignments took him to the former Soviet Union, to the Gulf War and to the war in Bosnia. He also reported extensively on the situation of ethnic Macedonians in neighbouring Bulgaria, Albania and Greece.

The family issued the announcement of his death; details about funeral arrangements were not made public in the initial notice. Colleagues remember him for a long career that spanned both print and broadcast journalism.
