Police officer dragged by vehicle near Blace, injured

A police officer was injured after being grabbed and dragged by a vehicle during an operation near the Blace border crossing, authorities reported. The incident happened on 12 September at about 17:15 on the road from the Blace crossing toward Skopje, at a location known as "Vrazhji vir".

Officers from RC Sever-OPKM observed a Volkswagen Transporter with foreign licence plates that was loaded with various smuggled goods. The driver did not stop when signalled to do so and continued driving, the Ministry of Interior (MVR) said.

How the confrontation unfolded

Police later managed to stop the vehicle. While officers attempted to detain the driver, a second vehicle arrived at the scene. A person who stepped out of that second vehicle physically attacked one of the police officers.

During the struggle, one of the individuals seized the officer by the arm and he was dragged by the other vehicle. The officer was then released, fell to the ground and sustained injuries.

The Ministry of Interior said measures are being taken to fully clarify the circumstances of the case and to identify and detain those involved.
