Slavcho Poposki: Sunny through Oct 7, then clouds and local rain from Oct 9

Meteorologist Slavcho Poposki says the start of the week in North Macedonia will be dominated by mostly sunny skies, cold mornings and markedly higher daytime temperatures, but that pattern will not last through the weekend.

What changes and when

Poposki forecasts that through Wednesday, 7 October, most of the country will remain predominantly sunny. Nights and early mornings are expected to be calm and mostly windless, favouring low morning readings.

Minimum temperatures will range from -1 to 8 degrees, with the Berovo region possibly seeing local values drop below that interval. During daytime, sunshine will push highs to between 21 and 28 degrees, producing a sharp difference between morning lows and afternoon highs — in some places exceeding 20 degrees.

Skopje and its surroundings should see similar conditions: cool mornings near 5 degrees and daytime maxima around 27 degrees.

From Thursday, 8 October, cloud cover is expected to increase across the country and morning temperatures should begin to rise, while daytime conditions turn more unstable. A more significant shift is predicted from Friday, 9 October, when local rain is likely in parts of the country.

Poposki warns that some areas could experience heavier, convective downpours and isolated thunderstorms, accompanied by strengthened winds. The unsettled pattern is expected to continue through the extended holiday weekend, so people planning outdoor activities should follow the latest forecasts because local conditions may vary substantially.
