Former Strumica mayor Kostadin Kostadinov welcomed a son — named Nikola
The former Strumica mayor announced the birth on 8 September and thanked medical staff; the name Nikola has deep family meaning.

Former Strumica mayor Kostadin Kostadinov and his wife Snezana have become parents to a son. The couple announced the birth on 8 September — the country's Independence Day — a date the family said carries special meaning.
Kostadin shared the news and a photo of the newborn on his Facebook page, welcoming the child and explaining the emotional weight of the chosen name.
Family name and its meaning
In his post Kostadin wrote: "Welcome to the world, our Nikola! God willed that you be born on this beautiful day and forever celebrate your birthday together with your Macedonia. May you be alive, healthy, happy and blessed by God, son! Happy 8 September, Independence Day, Happy holiday Macedonia!"
He also publicly thanked the medical team for their professionalism, care and dedication during the birth.
The name Nikola carries particular family significance for Kostadin: having lost his father at a young age, the arrival of a son with that name is described by him as a continuation and a resurrection of the memory of the man who raised him.
The couple celebrated their marriage this summer with a church ceremony at the Church of the Holy Mother of God in Berovo, following an earlier civil wedding. At the church celebration Snezana shone in her wedding dress, visibly pregnant; Kostadin had already said then that they were eagerly awaiting the arrival of a son who would complete their family.
