Fire in Shuto Orizari burns shops and cafés
A big blaze in Shuto Orizari last night destroyed several commercial premises; no injuries were reported and firefighters worked through the night.
A large fire broke out last night in the Skopje neighbourhood of Shuto Orizari, destroying several shops and cafés, municipal officials said. Initial reports indicate there were no injuries, but the blaze caused significant material damage.
Firefighting operation and timeline
According to official emergency records, the fire was fought "Во период од 03:31 до 06:45 часот со 15 пожарникари и 6 ПП возила гаснале запален трговски дуќан на ул. Индира б.б. (опш. Шуто Оризари), информираат од ЦУК." The incident affected commercial premises along Indira Street in the municipality of Shuto Orizari.
Witnesses and residents reported heavy smoke and visible flames as emergency crews worked to contain the blaze. Video footage shared on social media showed extensive fire damage to storefronts and outdoor seating areas.
Authorities say the immediate priority was to extinguish the flames and secure the scene; no casualties have been registered so far. Firefighters focused on preventing the fire from spreading to neighbouring buildings.
Further details are expected from the fire service once their on-site assessment is complete and after the Ministry of Internal Affairs finishes its investigation of the scene.
The municipality and emergency services will release more information on the cause and the extent of the material losses when inspections and damage assessments are finalised.
