MPs return from August recess; plenary session set for 2 September

Members of the Assembly return to parliamentary work after the August recess, with the first new plenary session scheduled for 2 September.

The Assembly's website shows that on 25 August the Assembly president, Afrim Gashi, had two meetings listed: one with the Turkish ambassador, Fatih Ulusoj, and another with the UN Resident Coordinator, Rita Kolumbija. Gashi's office says he has remained at work continuously even though deputies were officially on holiday.

Agenda for the 121st session

The 121st session, set for 2 September, lists 53 items on its agenda. Notable entries include the appointment of a vice governor of the National Bank, several ratifications, and a draft law on the reporting and screening of foreign direct investments, which will be considered in first reading.

Also on the agenda is a proposed national strategy for road traffic safety for 2026 - 2030, along with several laws to be processed by shortened procedure. Those expedited bills mainly cover harmonisation with the new Law on Senior Managers.

The Assembly's regular summer recess began on 1 August, although some deputies carried out activities around the national holiday Ilinden, observed on 2 August.
