A warning is circulating among residents of Veles about an older man who, residents say, has been going door-to-door while presenting himself as a member of the clergy.
According to local accounts being shared on social networks and messaging apps, the man wears religious clothing and introduces himself as a church official to gain the trust of householders and try to enter their homes.
Residents report that there have already been families who fell victim to what they describe as fraud after allowing such visitors inside. In previous similar incidents, people said they later discovered money or gold jewelry missing.
