Raids in Tetovo and Gostivar: weapons, ammunition and drugs seized; eight detained

Police in Tetovo and Gostivar carried out coordinated searches that resulted in weapons, ammunition and drugs being seized and eight people detained, authorities said.

In Tetovo officers from the Regional Police Department Tetovo detained S.B. (41) from the village of Leshok after executing a court-ordered search of his home. Investigators removed a carbine 7 mm with an optical sight, a "CZ" 9mm pistol with empty magazines, an air rifle 5,4 mm with an optical sight and cartridges of various calibres.

Separate operation in Gostivar tied to reported gunfire

Around 20:21 yesterday police arrested seven more people: A.M. (39), D.M. (26), B.S. (37), R.R. (66), B.A. (37) and R.V. (72), all from Gostivar, and N.L. (65) from Skopje. Officers had responded to a report of a public order disturbance in the village of Kunovo, Gostivar, involving shots fired. Spent casings were found at the scene, and subsequent searches of several weekend houses in Kunovo uncovered multiple firearms — hunting carbines, hunting shotguns and a pistol — and a large quantity of ammunition.

Late the same night, between 22:30 and 01:30, officers from the Regional Police Department Tetovo, together with the Special Police Unit "Tigar" and the Unit for Service Dogs (K9 Unit), carried out a court-authorised search of a house and an adjoining workshop in Tetovo used by P.M. (36).

Inside the workshop police found three people: L.S. (19) and two 16-year-old minors. Authorities say L.S. and one of the minors were in possession of a white powdery substance, marijuana and two digital scales. Investigators also discovered boxes containing white powder and cash in various currencies and denominations; those present were detained.

Police said that once the cases are fully documented they will, in coordination with the public prosecutor, file the appropriate charges.
