Changeable, cooler weather with north winds exceeding 60 km/h

Today the weather will be changeable and noticeably cooler across the country. A strong to very strong north wind is expected, with gusts locally exceeding 60 kilometres per hour. Temperatures will fall into a low range of 4 to 11 °C and rise to a high between 11 and 18 °C.

In Skopje conditions will also be changeable and colder than usual for the season. A moderate northerly wind will blow in the basin, becoming locally stronger at times. Temperatures in the capital are forecast to drop to around 10 °C in the morning and climb to a maximum near 15 °C.

Rain today and through Friday; snow on higher peaks

The cooler pattern will remain in place through Friday. Today and on Friday there will be occasional, locally scattered rain showers; on several higher mountains these showers will turn to snow. The northerly wind is expected to remain strong and in some places reach very strong speeds.

Residents in exposed areas should prepare for gusty conditions that can make travel difficult, especially on open roads and mountain passes. Loose objects outdoors may be at risk from sudden gusts.

Looking ahead to the weekend, winds are expected to ease and the outlook calls for sunnier conditions with only small to moderate cloud cover.
