Minister of Health Sasho Klekovski opened the roughly 600 m² renovation at Psychiatric Hospital Skopje (Bardovci) on World Mental Health Day.

The Psychiatric Hospital Skopje (Bardovci) has completed a full renovation of its Men’s Ward 2 with an investment of €300,000, hospital officials announced. The ward covers roughly 600 square metres and was formally opened by Minister of Health Sasho Klekovski on the occasion of World Mental Health Day.
New budget line for ongoing repairs
According to the minister, an agreement with the hospital foresees that the institution’s core budget will include funds earmarked for continuous reconstruction work. The move is intended to address long-standing shortcomings in psychiatric facilities.
Klekovski underlined the human dimension of the investment, recalling his personal impressions from years ago and stressing the need for sustained improvement of conditions for patients and staff.
Hospital representatives said the renovated ward will be used to improve patient care and the living conditions within the psychiatric hospital. Officials described the project as part of a broader effort to modernise infrastructure that has been neglected for decades.
The opening was timed to coincide with World Mental Health Day and was presented as a step toward ensuring psychiatric services are provided in dignified and safe surroundings.
