U.S. carries out air strikes inside Iran after attempted ballistic attack on bases in Jordan

The United States carried out a series of powerful air strikes against multiple targets inside Iran, saying the action was a response to an attempted ballistic attack on U.S. military bases in Jordan.

According to the American Central Command, "dozens" of military facilities linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were struck.

Casualties and local impact

Iranian state media reported that three people were killed in the strikes, including a two-year-old child on Qeshm island, and that damage was recorded in other parts of southern and western Iran.

Local residents described loud explosions and reported power outages and disruptions to internet services following the strikes.

The escalation follows a period of several days of relative calm and unsuccessful diplomatic efforts to lower tensions. Meanwhile, American and Iranian forces have continued to exchange attacks, deepening a conflict that is increasingly affecting the wider Middle East region.
